Customs Clerk - Felixstowe | Growing Freight Forwarder

Are you detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and a passion for international logistics? Looking to play a key role in customs clearance, compliance, and global supply chain operations? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established, family-run freight forwarder with over 14 years of success and a growing presence in the market.

Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking experienced Customs Clerks to join their friendly and fast-paced team in Felixstowe.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations accurately using CDS

* Ensure full HMRC compliance with all customs regulations, tariffs, and procedures

* Manage and track shipments, providing real-time updates across internal systems

* Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, and internal departments

* Resolve customs queries, documentation discrepancies, and clearance issues efficiently

* Work with GVMS and port/community systems (Destin8) to facilitate smooth cargo movement

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of commodity codes, customs procedures, and trade regulations

Skills & Experience Required:

* Proven experience in customs clearance / freight forwarding / logistics operations

* Strong working knowledge of CDS, Destin8, and GVMS (ETSF experience advantageous)

* Understanding of UK customs procedures, import/export processes, and compliance

* Ability to thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment

* Excellent attention to detail, data accuracy, and problem-solving skills

* Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management abilities
