Salary: £90 - £95 per day

Academics are currently assisting a client school (located in Stoke-on-Trent) that require an experienced Nursery Assistant after the Easter break. This is short-term cover, which could be for 2-6 weeks.

We have supported this welcoming village school for many years, and it is known for it's compassionate, content and appreciative atmosphere. Through nurturing inquisitiveness and creativity through its engaging curriculum, it is exceedingly evident in this school that all learners develop a desire for knowledge.

Responsibilities of a Nursery Assistant:

  • Work alongside teachers and fellow practitioners to deliver fun EYFS appropriate sessions and activities.
  • Support learners to develop essential skills, build social connections, and engage actively in learning.
  • Providing high quality 1:1 and/or small group support.
  • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • The ability to create and foster an inclusive and safe learning environment for all of the learners within your class and the wider school community.

For this role, Nursery Assistants who apply must have:

  • A national recognised Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience of working with children in a nursery or primary school setting (in the UK).
  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Confident communication skills and to be an excellent motivator in the room (1-2-1 or small group support).
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners.
  • A good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
