Overview
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Freight Forwarder to coordinate the efficient movement of goods across domestic and international supply chains. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end shipment processes, liaise with carriers and customers, and ensure all documentation is accurate and compliant with global regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Shipment Coordination
- Arrange and manage shipments.
- Coordinate with carriers, hauliers, airlines, and shipping lines to secure bookings.
- Monitor cargo movements and provide customers with timely updates.
Customer Service
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, providing professional communication and problem-solving support.
- Prepare quotations, handle rate requests, and offer transport solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Manage expectations around delivery times, delays, or issues.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and process all required shipping documentation.
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations, trade agreements, and customs requirements.
- Maintain accurate records according to company and legal standards.
Operational Administration
- Create job files, input data into freight management systems, and maintain internal systems.
- Verify charges, check supplier invoices, and support billing accuracy.
- Track shipments and troubleshoot logistical disruptions.
Carrier & Supplier Liaison
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, agents, and service providers.
- Negotiate transport rates where appropriate.
- Monitor service performance and escalate issues when needed.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or transport operations.
- Knowledge of international shipping processes and Incoterms.
- Strong understanding of customs procedures and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills and customer service mindset.
- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software systems.
Desirable
- Experience in a specific mode (air freight, sea freight, road freight, multimodal).
- Customs brokerage experience or qualifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
