Interim Town Planning Manager - Surrey - £70 per hour (Umbrella)
Interim Development Management Manager - Hybrid Working (Min. 2 Days Office-Based)

A Local Authority in Surrey is seeking an experienced Town Planning Manager to join its Town Planning Team on an interim basis. This is a key leadership role focused on delivering operational and strategic improvements across the Development Management function.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the integration of the Technical Support Team back into the Planning Service, including redesigning team functions and roles.
Manage and support a service restructure, including identifying training and development needs across the team.
Provide effective day-to-day management of the Development Management teams, excluding enforcement and strategic sites.
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Planning to develop and deliver a comprehensive Planning Improvement Plan.
Ensure effective team performance, service delivery, and adherence to statutory planning processes.

Requirements:

A qualified Town Planner with Significant experience as a Development Management Manager or similar senior role within a local authority planning service.
Proven track record of managing team restructures, service improvements, and technical training.
Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, policy, and procedures.
Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and support staff through change.
Must hold a valid UK driving licence.

Working Arrangements:

Hybrid working: Minimum of 2 days per week in the office, plus attendance for essential meetings as required
