Role Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to carry out planned and reactive maintenance within a commercial building environment in Sutton. Working a 4 on / 4 off days-only shift, you will ensure electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

This position suits an engineer with strong practical electrical skills and experience in building services. Candidates with Level 2 electrical qualifications will be considered, provided they have solid hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Planned & Reactive Maintenance

Conduct PPM on electrical systems according to statutory regulations and internal schedules.

Respond quickly to reactive faults, diagnose issues, and complete repairs efficiently.

Maintain and test lighting systems, emergency lighting, small power, and distribution boards.

Support general building maintenance tasks when required.

Electrical Systems & Compliance

Carry out electrical testing and basic inspection work under guidance (if Level 2).

Maintain and fault-find on:

LV distribution

Motors, starters, and control equipment

Emergency lighting systems

Fire alarm interfaces

BMS-controlled equipment (basic understanding acceptable)

Follow safe isolation procedures and ensure compliance with H&S and permit-to-work systems.

Operational & Administrative Duties

Complete all compliance documentation, job sheets, and CAFM updates accurately.

Liaise with external contractors and verify quality of service reports.

Maintain plant rooms in a safe, clean, and compliant condition.

Escalate major or complex faults to management or specialist engineers.

Required Skills & Experience

Experience in commercial building services, facilities maintenance, or similar environments.

Strong electrical fault-finding skills and a practical, hands-on approach.

Ability to work independently during long day shifts.

Ability to follow safety procedures and work within a compliance-driven environment.

Good communication and customer-facing skills.

Qualifications

Essential (Level 2 Accepted):

City & Guilds Level 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)

18th Edition - C&G 2382

Desirable:

C&G Level 3 Electrical Installation (8202 or equivalent)

C&G 2391 / 2394 / 2395 Inspection & Testing

ECS/CSCS Card

Any multi-skilled experience such as basic plumbing or HVAC understanding
