Position Title: Engineer - Whole Vehicle Verification & Validation Events
Duration: Contract
Location: Crewe, Cheshire
Main Goals and Objectives
- Utilising an understanding of forthcoming Client product and projects, contribute to the coordination and delivery of dynamic and static vehicle validation events within the automotive domain, supporting the technical manager.
- Take responsibility for vehicle readiness, structured in-event assessments, and solution validation activities, while applying a continuous improvement mindset.
- Develop and manage detailed event itineraries and drive plans in collaboration with the technical team.
- Lead vehicle assessments during events, including driving lead vehicles and identifying customer-relevant concerns.
- Coordinate and deliver vehicle preparation, concern reporting, tracking, and validation of fixes in future assessments.
Responsibility/Tasks And Customers
Support and Lead Design Development
- Advanced Awareness of Design and development techniques and technology in area of responsibility.
- Advanced ability to capture and specify the design requirements in area of responsibility.
- Support the Engineering test & validation planning and sign off for systems and components in area of responsibility.
- Support Engineering release and change management process.
Delivery of projects
- Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a Weekly Basis.
- Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in functional area.
- Intermediate understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business.
- Active participation working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables.
- Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation.
- Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.
Problem Solving
- Ability to solve complex Engineering and design related problems, with company tools.
- Analysis and management of several design related issues to identify the root cause.
- Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design guidelines.
- Deliver presentations at appropriate level.
Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
- Responsible for keeping the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
- Capture learning from previous experience.
- Understand and maintain liaison with the group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.
Ability to work within a team
- Able to work effectively in the functional team.
- Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives.
Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in system testing, validation, or verification engineering
- Vehicle Testing: Hands-on experience with dynamic and static vehicle testing, including familiarity with proving grounds, road routes, and test protocols.
- Driving Proficiency: Comfortable and competent in driving pre-production vehicles, including leading convoys and executing structured test drives.
- Issue Identification: Ability to assess vehicle behaviour and identify customer-relevant concerns during testing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with engineering, diagnostics, calibration, and quality teams to support issue resolution and validation.
- Documentation & Reporting: Skilled in documenting test results, concern logs, and validation outcomes clearly and accurately.
- Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
- Ability to influence colleagues within area of responsibility
- Ability to react and solve problems rapidly to support timely delivery of events
- German language preferable.

Practical & Technical Knowledge
- Vehicle Systems: Understanding of key automotive systems (e.g., powertrain, chassis, ADAS, infotainment) and their interactions.
- Test Instrumentation: Familiarity with data logging tools, CAN analysis (e.g., using Vector tools or similar), and basic diagnostics.
- Test Planning Tools: Experience with tools for itinerary creation, route planning, and event scheduling (e.g., Excel, JIRA, or bespoke tools).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues in real-time during events and escalate appropriately.
- Proficient understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent practical experience in vehicle testing or development may also be considered.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Full UK (or equivalent) driving license with a clean record.
- Advanced driving qualifications (e.g., IAM, RoSPA) desirable
- Track driving experience desirable
- Safety or first-aid training for test environments is beneficial.
