Key Day Engineer Responsibilities:

* Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across all production and site services equipment

* Schedule and complete servicing, inspections, and repairs to a high standard, ensuring full compliance and accurate record keeping

* Maintain and operate site services including boilers, compressed air systems, chilled water, and effluent treatment

* Support installation, commissioning, and relocation of machinery and equipment

* Work closely with production teams to identify and deliver efficiency improvements and reduce downtime

* Participate in root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions

* Ensure all work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards

* Adhere to GMP standards and promote a “clean as you go” culture

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

* Multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical competencies

* Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship, ONC, City & Guilds, 17th/18th Edition)

* Ability to carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance

* Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills

* Experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Good communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels

* Understanding the importance of accurate record keeping (quality, food safety, H&S)

* Proactive attitude with a strong team working ethic

Desirable:

* Experience working within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment

* Knowledge of food safety standards such as BRCGS

* Experience working with site services (boilers, air systems, chilled water, effluent)

* Experience supporting installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects

* Formal mechanical qualification (in addition to electrical bias)

* Experience working to retailer standards

* Continuous improvement mindset (lean / efficiency focused)
