Financial Controller, Farnborough, £60-70k package
Are you a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to finance? We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead a finance function and drive operational excellence. This is a key role supporting the Managing Director and wider SLT with accurate financial insights, robust controls, and efficient processes. This is a full time, permanent, office-based role.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reports.
- Ensure full compliance with VAT, corporation tax, audit requirements, and financial reporting standards.
- Maintain and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage relationships with external advisors including auditors, accountants, and banking partners.
- Oversee core finance operations: purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments and reconciliations.
- Administer payroll and ensure compliance with HMRC and pension regulations.
- Monitor daily cash flow and working capital to support business needs.
- Play a hands-on role within a small, collaborative finance team.
- Support the rollout of a new finance system to improve reporting and efficiency.
- Review and streamline financial processes to reduce errors and improve turnaround.
- Use data-driven insights to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Manage company-wide insurance policies (vehicles, property, business).
- Identify and mitigate financial risks across the business.
- Manage the transactional accounts staff.
- Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar senior finance role.
- Strong grasp of financial reporting, accounting principles, and compliance.
- Proficiency in finance software and reporting tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent).
- Ability to lead and develop finance team members.
