Recruitment Advisor

JOB TYPE: Contract

SALARY: £32000/annum

The Recruitment Advisor will play a critical role in supporting the People and Talent team to meet the organisational objectives, with important part of this programmes of work relating to recruitment. The organisation has historically replied heavily on consultancy services to support its recruitment activity.

Main Duties

Recruitment Development

1 Add value by demonstrating a understanding of trends and market knowledge of sector using knowledge to inform actions and sourcing plans

2 Demonstrate responsiveness to business needs, demonstrating speed of response through own actions and proactively proposing ideas and solutions

3 Development of standard policies, processes, tools and templates to ensure recruitment best practice is adhered to and where necessary built into iRecruit and PSL project

4 Demonstrate knowledge regarding the type of measures and targets that are set for recruitment - holding awareness of these targets while delivering work

5 Demonstrates an understanding of the public sector - understanding trends, relevant guidance and actively tracking developments in recruitment best practises

6 Develops an understanding of the business, the external market and trends and ensures that this knowledge is shared with the business

7 Provide a fresh perspective on how we are attracting talent and our inclusivity strategies

8 Development of SLA on recruitment with the business and provision of support to manager to deliver consistent, compliant and ensuring effective operational excellence is delivered

9 Motivates and supports managers, Head of Department and Directors through actions and training

10 Support the development of strategy, methodology and policy for successful delivery of the key objectives and goals

Recruitment Projects

12 Lead implementation of the iRecruit (applicant-tracking systems - ATS)

13 Data analysis, reporting and information collation to feedback and create recommendations and improvements to programmes

14 Lead on advisory recruitment plans, with a deep understanding of recruitment methods and concepts from end-to-end

15 Demonstrate an understanding of the recruitment market for best value tools and add-ons

16 Undertake regular updates, workshops and meetings to keep line managers updated and trained

17 Clear commitment to quality and compliance, driving performance through measures and targets that are set for recruitment

18 Deliver preferred supplier list (PSL) or similar framework for all of our permanent, contract and temporary recruitment across all areas of the organisation

Person Specification

Essential knowledge, skills and experience


1 CIPD qualification or Graduate qualification in either a HR related subject or equivalent experience

2 Experience working with an ATS and HRIS systems

3 Extensive knowledge and understanding of HR best practice in relation to resourcing and recruitment

4 Ability to implement operational recruitment strategy; able to identify the recruitment implications of certain elements of the strategy

5 Basic knowledge of employment law in relation to resourcing and recruitment

6 Ability to grasp and translate analysis into practical implementation of recruitment projects

7 Highly organised with strong administration skills and experience of managing a busy workload and effectively meeting short and long term priorities

8 Time and project management skills - able to plan and manage time effectively and deal with key priorities

9 Computer confident, proactive and enjoys learning new IT systems, good/ intermediate/ advanced skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint

10 Strong ability to work flexibly, managing changing and competing priorities

11 Evidence of consistently meeting milestones / targets over a long-term project

Desirable requirements

1 CIPHR/iRecruit experience

2 Professional qualification in project management, such as APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or another recognised qualification (e.g. Prince2 or PMP)

3 Experience in connecting multiple streams and building toolkits for Recruitment programmes

4 Knowledge and understanding of the Civil Service recruitment procedures
