Accounts Payable Manager
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000
Location: Luton, Beds
We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the purchase ledger function of this established and growing client in Luton. The role will include managing an established team, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring invoices and payments are processed accurately and on time.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
You will ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a staff management or team leader role, within accounts payable.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end supplier invoice processing.
- Manage a well-established accounts payable team.
- Ensure accurate VAT recovery and adherence to authorisation workflows
- Post invoices to nominal, vehicle and subcontract ledgers
- Resolve supplier queries and reconcile monthly statements
- Run monthly and mid-month payment cycles
- Maintain supplier accounts and master data
- Complete month-end ledger close and aged creditor reviews
- Handle ad-hoc payments, manual cheques and supplier calls
- Work with stakeholders to resolve issues quickly

- Strong communicator with excellent English and organisational skills
- High attention to detail and confident resolving issues
- Good knowledge of accounting and IT systems
- Able to prioritise a busy workload and meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated, reliable and able to work closely with peers and the wider team.
- Logical, methodical and comfortable working under pressure
- Positive, proactive “can-do” attitude
- Hands on people manager, experienced in conducting reviews and setting KPI’s.
