SEND Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Autism, Year 3) in Huddersfield

Are you a nurturing and patient individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs? We are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with autism at a caring and inclusive primary school in Huddersfield.

About the Role:

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a verbal, intelligent, and sensitive child who benefits from emotional reassurance, consistency, and positive relationships throughout the school day. The child requires support with self-regulation, transitions, and maintaining focus in lessons.

You'll work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to build trust and encourage independence while providing tailored emotional and academic support.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Providing 1:1 in-class and emotional support tailored to the needs of the child
• Supporting regulation and confidence through positive reinforcement and calm communication
• Helping the child engage with classroom routines and social interactions
• Implementing strategies from the child's support plan and communicating progress with the wider team
• Supporting transitions during the school day with reassurance and structure

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with children with autism or other additional needs (school-based or equivalent)
• Is calm, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships
• Understands the importance of emotional support and regulation strategies
• Works well as part of a team and uses initiative
• Holds a relevant TA qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent - desirable but not essential)
