Main Duties & Responsibilities

Sourcing, Procurement and Category management

* Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure quality and reliability

* Negotiate favourable contracts, terms and prices with suppliers

* Provide commercial support to the Contract manager

* Manage the full procurement process from end to end

* Take full ownership leading contracts and categories you are assigned

* Manage contracts efficiently and strategically - lead commercial discussions, contract processes, and conduct regular reviews

* Lead categories by understanding requests, targeting the correct supplier selectively by identifying which suppliers can fulfil which type of requests, and ensure proper ownership of enquiries - no delegation to engineers of procurement tasks

* Conduct due diligence with suppliers before engagement - including verifying capabilities, compliance and performance history

* Ensure all deadlines are consistently met, including RFP/RFQ stages and out of contract situations are avoided

Vendor Relationship Management

* Proactively build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure optimal performance

* Address any issues with suppliers and take corrective action or escalation as needed

* Conduct regular performance and continuous improvement reviews - provide actionable feedback and foster strong supplier relationships

* Perform risk management and supplier contingency plans - actively identify and mitigate risks associated with single source suppliers, ensuring contingency plans are in place

Compliance

* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in procurement activities

* Ensure vendor compliance to accreditation certifications

* Ensure annual supplier appraisals are completed on time in collaboration with relevant stakeholders for technical input

Requirements:

Essential

* 5 GCSEs Grade A-C - English Language and Maths essential

* Strong proven experience as a Buyer

* Strong negotiation and communication skills

* Experienced with ERP systems

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

* Experienced with supplier management and relationship building

* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

* Strong commercial knowledge and contract management

* Strong understanding of legal compliance, and experience of reviewing, checking and understanding contracts/terms

Desirable

* CIPS qualification

* Experience in manufacturing industry

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday 36.25 hour week - Flexitime
