The role

We are currently looking to recruit a Kitchen Porter to join our Catering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation across the kitchen and associated areas. Working closely with the wider kitchen team, you will play a key role in supporting smooth and efficient food service within a busy hospital environment.

Key Duties
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and related areas.

  • Clean and sanitise kitchen equipment, utensils, crockery, and work surfaces in line with infection control and food safety standards.

  • Ensure the safe handling and storage of food and beverages in accordance with regulations.

  • Accurately complete all HACCP records and daily cleaning checklists.

  • Use PPE correctly and follow all health and safety procedures at all times.

  • Assist the kitchen team during busy or pressurised periods to ensure smooth and efficient service.

  • Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain organised storage areas.

Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment (ideally within healthcare or hospitality).

  • Knowledge of food hygiene and health and safety standards.

  • Understanding of HACCP principles.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.

  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends.
