About the RoleOur client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join their Assembly team. Reporting to the Assembly Team Leader, you'll be responsible for the assembly and commissioning of machines, machine modules and sub-assemblies using engineering drawings and 3D models.
We're looking for an ideally apprentice-trained professional with exceptional attention to detail and solid understanding of engineering processes. You'll be working within a close-knit manufacturing team where flexibility, self-motivation, and the ability to excel both independently and collaboratively are essential.
Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Follow all departmental procedures and safety protocols
- Assemble components to exact specifications including:
- Complete machine builds
- Modular assemblies
- Sub-assemblies
- All associated quality documentation
- Identify and escalate assembly/component issues following established quality procedures
- Operate handling equipment and machinery (with appropriate training)
- Champion housekeeping and health & safety best practices
- Support 5S implementation and maintenance
- Contribute to achieving operational targets including on-time delivery and build efficiency
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Support additional reasonable management requests
Performance MetricsSuccess in this position will be measured by your ability to:
- Complete all assemblies on time, to specification, and to required quality standards
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate quality documentation
- Meet all delivery deadlines consistently

Essential RequirementsYou must have:
- Apprentice training qualification
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting Bills of Materials
- Solid understanding of mechanical design assembly principles
- Proven assembly experience within a machine manufacturing environment
- Experience with large fabricated component assembly using engineering drawings
- Capability to handle diverse components (sheet metal, machined parts, electrical components)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good numerical ability
- Computer literacy
Desirable QualificationsAdditional advantages include:
- Valid counterbalance forklift license
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
