We are seeking a dedicated Head of School for Supported Learning to join a established FE College Group based in West London. This role is based at in Uxbridge with provisions at a new site based in Hayes. The successful candidate will lead the School of Supported Learning, focusing on enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment to maximise student recruitment, retention, achievement, and progression.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Marketing and Recruitment of Students:

    • Develop and implement a marketing plan for the School.
    • Strengthen links with industry, employers, and the community to enhance student recruitment.
    • Manage the recruitment and guidance of students, ensuring they are placed on appropriate courses.
  • Design and Delivery of Programmes:

    • Ensure all course materials and teaching plans are up-to-date and meet college standards.
    • Develop innovative teaching methods that cater to diverse learner needs.
    • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and college policies.
  • Quality and Evaluation:

    • Conduct annual programme reviews and prepare the School’s Self-Assessment Report.
    • Monitor and implement improvement activities based on evaluation and student feedback.
    • Ensure effective management of teaching and learning, including staff observations.
  • Student Support and Tutoring:

    • Provide effective academic tutoring and support structures consistent with college policies.
    • Organise events and provide regular reports to parents and employers on student progress.
    • Manage student discipline and ensure all learning agreements are properly maintained.
  • Planning and Change:

    • Prepare and implement the School’s Development Plan/Business Plan.
    • Engage staff in the planning process and develop the School’s portfolio of work.
    • Lead and manage projects, particularly in applying for funding and new initiatives.
  • Resources:

    • Manage budgets for staffing and consumables.
    • Ensure that teaching resources are accessible and fit for purpose.
    • Efficiently manage staff and resources to maximise productivity and minimise expenditure.
  • Staffing and Development:

    • Line manage staff and implement relevant staff policies.
    • Induct, train, and develop staff, ensuring access to necessary resources and information.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification.
  • Full teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g., PGCE, DET).
  • At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience in Further Education.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in SEND.
  • Proven track record in managing a team and curriculum management.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to engage and motivate others
