Are you an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) looking to make a meaningful impact to the English department in a dynamic secondary school environment? Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking passionate and skilled HLTAs to join forward-thinking and inclusive secondary schools across Finchley and support their English departments.

About the Role

As a English specialist HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across key stages. You will be expected to deliver pre-planned lessons, support individual or small group English interventions, and assist in the development of students' academic and personal growth. This role is ideal for someone confident in managing classrooms and passionate about helping young people succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver English lessons in the absence of a teacher, following provided plans

Support students with varying learning needs, including SEN and EAL

Assist in behaviour management and classroom engagement strategies

Work collaboratively with teaching staff to raise student achievement

Provide feedback on student progress to teachers and pastoral teams

Contribute to the creation of a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment

What We're Looking For

HLTA status or equivalent qualification/experience

Previous experience in a UK secondary school setting

Hold an English degree, or a TEFL, ESOL qualification
Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills

Confidence in leading classes and managing pupil behaviour

A proactive and flexible approach to supporting teaching and learning

A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
