About the Trust

The Trust is one of the largest specialist mental health providers in the country, providing inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and addiction services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

What you'll be responsible for:

* As a member of the Senior Management Team, lead the development, implementation and monitoring of a fully integrated GMMH communications strategy ensuring it is responsive to new technologies which promotes the reputation of the Trust as well as individual services.

* Work closely with the Executive Team in the development of the Trust's Strategic Plans ensuring that staff, patient and public engagement is a key component.

* Develop the use of appropriate evaluation tools and methodologies to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Communications Strategy, advising the senior leadership team of the outcome of such evaluation and advising on any required updates to the strategy or approach.

* Identify, plan and deliver a broad range of integrated communications campaigns which support operational and strategic requirements.

* Provide leadership, advice and expertise on internal communication and staff engagement to support the Trust's ambition to create an outstanding place to work. Develop an effective and systematic approach to internal communications through a variety of means, building staff knowledge and confidence; ensuring relevant and timely communication for all staff groups and deliver key corporate messages reflecting the Trust's vision, values and objectives.

* Ensure that Trust Board members and Governors are briefed as appropriate in response to significant adverse or untoward events.

* Distil highly complex and sensitive information into accessible and engaging editorial content to be used across a range of communications platforms, including media releases, stakeholder newsletters, social media and online platforms.

The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.

You'll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

* An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS.

* Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.

* A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels, within the organisation.

You'll have the following skills/experience:

* Must have ex board experience

* Comms specialist

* Media/Comms experience

* NHS experience or public sector

* Experience in a similar role

* Excellent IT skills

* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

* Excellent organisation skills

* Microsoft package knowledge - Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
