Reed Finance are working exclusively with a £22m charity in West Yorkshire in the search for a Senior Financial Accountant/Finance Manager. This is a pivotal senior role within the organisation. You will lead on financial accounting, regulatory reporting, systems implementation, and data-driven performance analysis. You will provide leadership across the finance function, support strategic decision-making, and ensure robust financial control, reporting, and forecasting. You will be a key business partner to senior management, a mentor to the finance team, and act as a critical support and deputy to the Director of Finance.
Hybrid working of three days in the office and two days home.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
• Lead on the preparation of the charity’s statutory accounts and ensure compliance with relevant UK charity and accounting standards (SORP).
• Manage and improve month-end, year-end processes and audit preparation.
• Oversee tax matters and finding ways to make tax efficiencies.
• Produce accurate, timely and insightful financial reports for senior leadership and Trustees, working closely with the management accountant.
• Produce monthly cash flow reports, forecasting the cash position, and highlighting any potential risks or opportunities.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
• Provide variance analysis and narrative reporting for departmental heads.
• Identify financial risks and opportunities and make recommendations for corrective action.
• Global Consolidation & International Oversight
• Lead efforts to consolidate group accounts, including working with our international offices to harmonise financial reporting.
• Align reporting frameworks and ensure transparency and compliance across global operations.
Systems & Process Implementation
• Lead on the implementation and onboarding of new accounting and ERP systems (seeking transition from current software Access to Xero, SAGE or similar).
• Streamline finance processes through automation and system integration with Salesforce.
• Work with the Procurement Officer to centralise and manage contract and supplier databases.
Data Analytics & Business Partnering
• Build financial models and dashboards to support business decisions using Excel and (preferably) Power BI.
• Partner with operational teams to deliver insightful analysis that drives efficiency and impact.
• Enhance the monthly Management Information reporting pack with data-led insights.
• Provide useful insights and analysis on the monthly management accounts, highlighting key trends, variances, and performance indicators to support informed decision making.
You will be able to demonstrate
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in financial accounting, statutory accounts preparation, and audit coordination.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering background.
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to manipulate large datasets.
• Experience producing financial insights through dashboards and reporting tools (Power BI desirable).
• Demonstrated leadership and people management experience.
• Experience with financial systems implementation and process improvement.
• Strong understanding of charity finance, SORP, and regulatory compliance.
