HGV Class 1 Driver – Birmingham, West Midlands

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Birmingham, West Midlands on a permanent basis.

This role is ideal for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver looking for a consistent day or night shift work. It would suit applicants looking for a role as LGV Class 1 Driver / Truck Driver / CE Driver.

Shifts:

Days:

• Monday to Saturday
• Start times between 03:00 – 06:00

Nights:

• Monday to Friday
• One in four Sundays required
• Start times between 16:00 – 17:00

Salary:

•   £40,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience

Day-to-Day Duties:

As a HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Class 1 trunking work
• Up to a maximum of three drops per day to known destinations
• Operating Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
• Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
• Ensuring all goods are loaded and secured correctly
• Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
• Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
• Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements
• Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

• Valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
• Minimum of twelve months’ experience driving CE vehicles
• No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no major endorsement codes)
• Valid UK Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
• Good spoken and written English
• Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
• Strong understanding of UK road traffic laws
• Effective communication skills

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience in Class 1 trunking or store delivery work

Training:

• Driver assessment required prior to starting
• Two-week paid induction following a successful assessment
• Ongoing industry-related training and support
