About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join an award-winning and fast-growing financial planning firm. As a Mortgage and Protection Adviser, you’ll provide high-quality advice to clients of Attivo, supporting them with their mortgage and protection needs as part of our dedicated team.
You’ll focus on building strong, long-term relationships, ensuring clients’ needs are met compliantly and efficiently, while identifying opportunities to grow and retain business.
You’ll act as an ambassador for Attivo, representing our core values and behaviours, and helping raise the profile of the business and the profession with internal and external stakeholders.
You’ll offer expert guidance to clients, facilitating mortgage decisions and providing advice on protection products (such as life insurance, critical illness, and income protection). Equity release advice is desirable but not essential.
Based at our Cheltenham Head Office, you’ll work flexibly across a mix of office, home, and in-person client meetings around the Gloucestershire area. We support hybrid and flexible working through our dedicated policies.
About you:
You are an experienced Mortgage Adviser with the relevant qualifications to advise on both mortgage and protection needs. You’ll have a strong history of delivering exceptional client service and value long-term relationships over short-term gains. You may be currently employed or self-employed and are looking to join a company that offers a fully employed model with a competitive salary, bonus scheme, and excellent benefits.
Experience or qualifications in equity release are desirable but not essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare thoroughly for client meetings, ensuring all necessary information has been gathered.
- Provide clear, compliant advice on mortgage and protection products, outlining associated fees and processes.
- Conduct in-depth assessments of clients’ financial circumstances and objectives.
- Deliver suitability reports within prescribed timescales, ensuring advice is tailored and understood.
- Support clients through the mortgage application process and provide guidance on the home-buying journey.
- Maintain strong relationships with lenders, estate agents, and valuers.
- Stay up to date with changes in regulation and new product offerings.
- Escalate breaches or concerns to the Regional Director or Compliance Manager as required.
- Respond appropriately to any Financial Ombudsman enquiries.
- Maintain accurate CPD records and undertake study and research to expand knowledge.
- Study towards relevant professional qualifications as appropriate.
Essential skills and experience:
- Hold the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) or CII Certificate in Mortgage Advice.
- Hold a protection qualification and be authorised to advise on protection products.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, including advising on mortgage and protection needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and numeracy skills.
- High levels of customer service and a proactive approach.
- Good time management and the ability to manage multiple clients effectively.
- Confident using IT systems and software packages.
Desirable skills and experience:
- Hold the Certificate in Regulated Equity Release (CeRER) or equivalent.
- Experience in advising on equity release products.
