Chichester College Group have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Rock Climbing Instructor at our Chichester College campus. You will join us on a variable hours basis. In return, we will offer a competitive salary of £23.82 per hour.

The Rock Climbing Instructor role:

Chichester College Sports Centre is seeking to recruit a fully qualified Rock Climbing Instructor to teach between our four walls based at Chichester, Midhurst, Bognor Regis & Hayling. 

You will hold a recognised Mountain training qualification; Climbing Wall Instructor, Rock Climbing Instructor or higher.

The ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels is essential, as is experience of assessing, training and coaching, including working with students or children.

Key Responsibilities of ourRock Climbing Instructor:

  • To assist with the re-routing/general maintenance of the climbing wall including monthly checks of the equipment used.
  • To assess users to ensure that they are capable and have sufficient knowledge to use the climbing wall safely.
  • To supervise the wall during public sessions and to ensure it operates in line with our code of practice.
  • To lead group sessions and clubs, which includes teaching safe indoor climbing practices.
  • To ensure that all paperwork is completed to make this a smooth running operation.
  • To inspect all equipment prior to classes to ensure they are safe to use.
  • To ensure all customer enquiries/complaints are dealt with promptly and professionally.

Our ideal Rock Climbing Instructor should have the following skills and experience:

  • MLTB Award, CWI Award or RCI Award
  • Experience of assessing learners
  • An understanding of the principles of coaching
  • Administration skills and work scheduling
  • Flexible approach to work
