The RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and resilient Maths Teacher to join a supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in West Drayton. This is a rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about re-engaging young people in learning and making a genuine difference to students' lives.
You will be teaching Maths to small groups of pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education, including social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs. The role requires creativity, patience, and a strong belief in every pupil's potential to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons tailored to individual needs
- Support pupils to achieve positive academic and personal outcomes
- Manage behaviour using a trauma-informed and restorative approach
- Track progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Work closely with pastoral staff, SEN professionals, and external agencies
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching Maths at KS3 and/or KS4
- Experience in a PRU, SEMH, SEN, or alternative provision setting is desirable (but not essential)
- Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
- A flexible, reflective, and empathetic approach to teaching
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
