The Company

We are a Staffordshire-based mechanical building services contractor delivering full mechanical packages for hotel developments across the UK. Our projects include HVAC systems, plant rooms, domestic water services, boosted cold water systems, drainage, and public health installations.

Due to continued growth and newly secured hotel projects, we are looking to appoint a CAD Operator to support our design and project delivery teams.

Role Overview

The CAD Operator will be responsible for producing accurate 2D mechanical drawings to support hotel construction projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Design Engineers, and site teams, you will assist in developing coordinated HVAC and mechanical layouts from concept stage through to construction and as-built documentation.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in mechanical building services who is looking to further develop within a growing contractor environment.

Key Responsibilities

Produce 2D AutoCAD drawings for HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, and public health systems

*

Develop coordinated layouts based on consultant drawings and project specifications

*

Amend and update drawings in line with site changes and design revisions

*

Prepare detailed installation drawings for site teams

*

Assist with plant room layout development and mechanical schematics

*

Coordinate with other trades to minimise clashes and installation issues

*

Maintain drawing registers and revision control

*

Support the production of as-built drawings upon project completion

*

Liaise with project managers and engineers to ensure drawings meet programme deadlines

Requirements

*

Proven experience using AutoCAD within a mechanical or M&E environment

*

Understanding of HVAC systems, pipework layouts, and plant room configurations

*

Ability to interpret technical drawings and mechanical specifications

*

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

*

Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively

*

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Desirable

*

Experience working on hotel or commercial construction projects

*

Basic knowledge of Revit (advantageous but not essential)

*

Understanding of building services coordination
