Scottish Renewables is seeking a Head of Offshore to lead its policy work across offshore energy, with a primary focus on offshore wind.

Scottish Renewables is the trade body for Scotland's renewable energy industry, representing over 380 organisations across offshore and onshore wind, solar, hydropower, low‑carbon heat, wave and tidal energy, hydrogen, and the supply chains that support them.

Reporting to the Director of Offshore, this is a senior policy leadership role responsible for engaging collaboratively with industry, government and stakeholders to influence Scottish and UK policy, legislation and regulation. The role has a strong external profile and requires confidence speaking across the full range of offshore‑related issues.

As Scotland accelerates the deployment of offshore renewables, Scottish Renewables plays a central role in shaping the policy environment that enables projects to be delivered at scale.

Key responsibilities

Lead Scottish Renewables' offshore energy policy work, with a focus on offshore wind
Drive engagement with the Scottish Government, particularly across planning, environmental and consenting policy
Chair or co‑chair industry groups addressing barriers to offshore deployment
Monitor policy and legislative developments and shape strategic responses
Contribute to thinking on offshore skills, supply chain enablers and market context, working closely with internal colleagues
Act as a public‑facing spokesperson, representing Scottish Renewables in the media and at events
Build and maintain strong relationships with members and external stakeholders
Line manage an Offshore Policy Officer, with scope for future team growth

About you

You will be a confident and politically aware policy professional with a strong understanding of offshore wind and the wider offshore energy landscape.

You are likely to bring:

Experience influencing public policy in energy or a related sector
Credibility engaging senior stakeholders and chairing groups
The ability to speak confidently across a broad offshore agenda, drawing on specialist expertise where needed
Strong communication skills and comfort representing an organisation externally
Interest in people leadership, with line management experience helpful but not essential

Additional Information & How to Apply

You will join a supportive, inclusive and collaborative team, working on a hybrid basis (max 2 days from home) from the Glasgow office. Occasional overnight stays and weekend travel/event attendance will be required.
