Role Overview:
The Finance Manager will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations of the business, managing a team of two and ensuring all accounting processes run smoothly and efficiently. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced finance professional who is comfortable across both transactional and reporting duties. Flexible working hours are available (e.g. 7:30am – 3:30pm), offering excellent work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities – Finance Manager:
Oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the lettings business
Manage sales and purchase ledger, including processing invoices and fee income
Perform business bank account reconciliations
Produce monthly management accounts, including trial balance, accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets
Manage payroll, P11Ds, and quarterly VAT returns
Handle petty cash across the business
Prepare dividend documentation
Liaise with external accountants on year-end accounts and corporation tax
Manage quarterly HMRC tax payments for non-resident landlords
Produce annual HMRC reports, including landlord details and NRL6 certificates
Lead the annual ARLA audit process with external auditors
Manage and support two members of the accounts team
Provide hands-on support to the team during annual leave and busy periods
Oversee client account processes, including rent demands, reconciliations, and landlord payments
Handle queries from landlords and tenants in a professional manner
Ensure suppliers are paid promptly following rent receipt
Manage deposit returns and process move-in files
Key Skills – Finance Manager:
Minimum AAT Level 4 qualification (or equivalent)
Company will support further professional qualifications and accreditations
Proven experience in a similar Finance Manager or senior accounts role
Strong knowledge of management accounts and financial reporting
Experience within lettings, property management, or a similar environment (highly desirable)
Understanding of client accounts and compliance processes
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to manage and support a small team
Confident communicator with a proactive approach
Ability to work both strategically and hands-on
