Long Term Futures are working with a specialist SEN provision in Barnet to appoint a committed Behaviour Mentor to work with Post-16 students who have a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many learners present with behaviours linked to anxiety, communication differences, and sensory sensitivities, requiring a calm, structured approach.

The Role

Providing consistent 1:1 and small group support in both classroom and vocational learning environments
Using positive behaviour management techniques to promote engagement and self-control
Supporting students during transitions, breaks, and community-based learning
Assisting with the development of social and life skills to prepare students for further education or employment
Collaborating closely with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to ensure consistent support strategies are in placeIdeal Requirements

Experience working with students aged 16+ with SEN, particularly ASD, ADHD, or SEMH needs
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
An understanding of sensory needs, communication difficulties, and anxiety triggers
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly
