Copello are supporting a leading defence organisation in the recruitment of a Principal Safety Engineer. In this role, you'll be a core member of the safety team, responsible for driving key safety engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle — from early-stage design through to operational support. Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and support system safety assessments across software and hardware domains

* Perform and review safety analyses, including HAZOP, FTA, FMEA/FMECA, and LOPA

* Work collaboratively across engineering teams to embed safety into every stage of development

* Support certification and assurance processes in line with defence and industry safety standards

What You'll Bring:

* Strong background in functional or systems safety engineering

* Experience working on high-integrity, safety-critical systems

* Familiarity with MoD, maritime, or aerospace standards (desirable)
