About the Role
An established and growing UK business is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join its internal HR and Payroll team. With a workforce of over 1,600 employees and further growth expected, this is a key role in ensuring timely and compliant payroll processing.
Reporting into the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will have experience managing high-volume, multi-frequency payrolls and be confident navigating complex pay structures. You'll also provide administrative support to the HR team and be a go-to person for payroll-related queries.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

Deliver accurate and timely weekly and monthly payrolls for two company entities

Process a variety of payments, including overtime, bonuses, and other adjustments

Maintain payroll records, managing employee lifecycle changes (starters, leavers, pay changes)
Payroll Queries & Compliance

Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and managers

Resolve discrepancies involving tax, benefits, or pension contributions

Ensure payroll processes remain compliant with current legislation

Support audits and maintain up-to-date documentation
HR Administrative Support

Process onboarding and exit paperwork

Set up access cards and timekeeping profiles

Maintain HR systems with accurate employee data

Generate regular reports on headcount, absence, and other metrics

Assist with general administration (e.g., filing, ordering supplies)

Support recruitment-related processes including internal referral schemes and temp-to-perm transitions
What You'll Need

Experience processing in-house payroll (not managed/ outsourced payroll)

Processing volume payroll - 300+

Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and best practices

Experience working with both salaried and hourly-paid staff

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Ability to cover for the Payroll Manager when required
