Art Teacher - Independent Sixth Form College near Wells - September 2025

A high-performing sixth form college near Wells is seeking an experienced and imaginative Art Teacher to deliver high-quality A-Level teaching from September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent role best suited to a teacher with a strong understanding of contemporary practice and a passion for helping students realise their personal creative vision.

The successful candidate will join a small but dynamic department where student-led projects, interdisciplinary exploration, and exhibition opportunities are highly encouraged. Many students go on to study art and design at top institutions such as UAL, Falmouth, and Goldsmiths.

Responsibilities

Teach Art and Design to GCSE and A-Level students

*

Guide students in developing portfolios and preparing for UCAS/art school interviews

*

Lead trips to galleries, exhibitions, and support artist residencies

*

Provide academic mentoring and feedback to support independent projects

*

Promote creative confidence and critical thinking through discussion and reflection

Requirements

*

Degree in Fine Art, Illustration, or a related subject

*

PGCE and QTS; A-Level teaching experience desirable

*

Proficiency in media such as drawing, painting, mixed media, or fashion/textiles

*

Confidence in moderating coursework and understanding exam board expectations

Salary
£35,000-£52,000 depending on experience, with pension, CPD and additional benefits
