Skilled Careers is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Shift Lead Engineer to join a leading FM service provider at a prestigious commercial office building near Liverpool Street, London. This is a permanent role offering continental shifts (days & nights) and a competitive salary of up to £58,000, depending on experience.

Role Overview

As the Shift Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team during your shift, ensuring all planned and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard. You'll act as the primary point of contact for site management, contractors, and clients, while maintaining compliance and safety across all building systems.

Key Details

Location: Liverpool Street, London (Zone 1)

Salary: Up to £58,000 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Shift Pattern: Continental (4 on, 4 off - rotating days & nights)

Hours: 07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00

Start Date: Immediate

Core Responsibilities

Lead and supervise a team of engineers during shift operations

Allocate tasks and ensure timely completion of PPM and reactive works

Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for electrical systems

Conduct emergency lighting tests, fault-finding, and control panel maintenance

Monitor and respond to BMS alerts for HVAC and critical systems

Ensure compliance with health & safety and statutory regulations

Maintain accurate logbooks, reports, and shift handovers

Liaise with clients, contractors, and site management to resolve issues

Support training and development of junior engineers

Escalate major faults and coordinate emergency response procedures

Candidate Requirements

City & Guilds Level 2 & 3 in Electrical Installations

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential)

Proven experience in commercial building maintenance

Previous supervisory or lead engineer experience (desirable)

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills

Excellent communication and leadership abilities

Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks under pressure

Must be able to provide copies of relevant trade certificates
