A growing construction business is seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to take full responsibility for its finance function. This is a standalone role offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to play a key part in supporting the continued growth of the business.

This position would suit an experienced and proactive finance professional who enjoys operating in a broad, all-encompassing role within an SME environment.

The Role
The Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and meaningful insight to support decision-making across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

*

Production of monthly management accounts and associated reporting

*

Preparation of quarterly forecasts, cash flow projections, and P&L reviews

*

Full ownership of month-end processes including accruals, prepayments, and journals

*

Management of accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations and payments

*

Bank and general ledger reconciliations

*

VAT reconciliations and submissions

*

Project accounting, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, and budget comparisons

*

Preparation of monthly payroll and staff expenses

*

Liaising with external auditors and leading the year-end audit process

*

Supporting operational teams with financial information and analysis

*

Driving process improvements across finance and wider business operations

The Person
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and taking full ownership of the finance function within a small business environment.

They will demonstrate:

*

Proven experience in a similar role

*

Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail

*

Experience producing management accounts and overseeing end-to-end finance processes

*

Confidence in communicating financial information to non-finance stakeholders

*

A hands-on, proactive, and problem-solving approach

*

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Experience within the construction sector or project-based environments would be advantageous but not essential.

Candidates may be qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA), part-qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE).

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and growing business in a role offering real ownership, flexibility, and the chance to make a tangible impact.

The position offers hybrid working and a supportive environment where the Finance Manager will play a key role in shaping financial processes and supporting business growth
