Mechanical Project Engineer - COMAH / Chemical Plant - Manchester - Up to £60,000 About the Company Our client is a global chemical manufacturer in the Manchester area who is looking to add a Mechanical Project Engineer to their Engineering team. This is a hands-on and varied role that combines engineering design, maintenance, safety management, and project delivery, with opportunities to contribute to plant-wide improvement initiatives. Mechanical Project Engineer - Requirements  

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in engineering/projects within a chemical, pharmaceutical, or petrochemical environment (COMAH experience preferred).
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and reliability engineering.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Mechanical Project Engineer - Responsibilities  

• Managing and delivering mechanical-biased projects from design through to completion.
• Providing technical expertise and troubleshooting to support plant operations.
• Leading on maintenance strategies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.
• Supporting process safety initiatives, including active participation in HAZOPs.
• Overseeing contractors and vendors to ensure quality, compliance, and performance.
• Conduct detailed engineering design of mechanical systems and components.
• Manage compliance with PSSR, PUWER, LOLER, and PED inspection/installation programs.
• Lead and participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement solutions to reduce downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance activities
