Lead Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Location: Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hrs)

Role Overview

Seeking a Lead Mechanical HVAC Engineer to maintain, repair, and inspect mechanical building services across a busy healthcare estate. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and HTM requirements while supporting safe, efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

Complete PPM, reactive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC and mechanical systems
Maintain heating, ventilation, AC systems, AHUs, chilled and potable water systems
Fault-finding, minor installations, and upgrade support
Ensure safe working practices, infection control, and accurate record keeping
Liaise with hospital departments with minimal disruption
Participate in on-call rota (after qualifying period)
Work collaboratively across the estates and facilities teamRequirements

Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent)
Experience in complex building maintenance
Strong HVAC/mechanical system knowledge
Authorised Person Ventilation (desirable but preferred)
Good fault-finding skills and understanding of statutory complianceBenefits
