Accounts Assistant (Short-Term Contract)

Location: Poole (office-based)Pay Rate: £15 per hourContract Length: Approx. 1 monthHours: Full-time (37-40 hours), Monday–Friday

We are seeking an organised and detail-driven Accounts Assistant to support a short-term finance project involving the review and reconciliation of utility and supplier accounts across a large property portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and experience in transactional finance who enjoys problem-solving and working with data.

The Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting an internal audit of utilities and supplier arrangements, ensuring records are accurate, payments are aligned, and any discrepancies are resolved quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile supplier accounts and review historical billing data
• Liaise with utility providers to update account details and set up/amend direct debits
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies, inconsistencies, or missing billing information
• Maintain clear and up-to-date tracking schedules across a portfolio of 100+ sites
• Report progress regularly and escalate issues where required

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
• Strong reconciliation and transactional finance background
• Confident communicating with external suppliers by phone and email
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Competent Excel skills
• Comfortable handling large volumes of data
• Able to work full-time from the Poole office

Desirable:

• Experience working with multi-site operations
• Knowledge of utilities, service charges, or supplier billing
• Experience using accounting software
