Start: September 2025Job SummaryAspire People is currently recruiting for two passionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join special educational needs (SEN) schools in St Albans. These full-time roles offer the opportunity to support pupils with a range of complex learning difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder (ASC), ADHD, and profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).If you're an empathetic and patient individual with a passion for supporting students with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.Key Responsibilities:Provide one-to-one support or assist with small group interventions for students with complex needs, including ASC, ADHD, and PMLDWork closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targetsSupport pupils with personal care needs (if required), ensuring their dignity and safety at all timesHelp students to develop social, emotional, and academic skills through tailored support strategiesProvide guidance in managing behavioural challenges in a calm, consistent, and positive mannerSupport the delivery of sensory, therapeutic, or life skills activitiesMaintain accurate records of pupil progress, liaising with class teachers and the SEN team regularlyRequirements:Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs in an SEN school or similar environment (essential)Strong understanding of autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs, with an ability to tailor support to individual studentsCalm, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needsConfidence in supporting students with personal care needs (where required)A proactive approach to working within a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and support staffEnhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)Availability for full-time work, Monday to Friday (8:30am - 3:30pm)Desirable:Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)Experience with Makaton, PECs, or other alternative communication methodsPrevious work in specialist settings (e.g., SEN schools, specialist provisions, etc.)Local to Hemel Hempstead or St Albans, or able to reliably commuteAspire People Limited provides services as an Education Agency and an Education Employment Business.
