I have a FANTASTIC opportunity in a well-established residential service for a senior children's support worker to support children and young adults with emotional, behavioural, social and mental health challenges.

We are looking for COMMITTED seniors who want to support young people; to enable them to develop in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.

Job Title: Senior Children's Support Worker

Salary: £28,000 - £33,250

Location: Corse Lawn, Gloucestershire (GL19 postcode)

Hours: 39 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Shifts: 6-week rotation (Mixture of early, late, and night shifts)

**Due to the nature of the job and the activities involved, we are only able to consider applicants who hold a Full UK Drivers Licence**

Responsibilities:

  • To lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
  • Take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
  • To encourage the young people to do activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
  • To keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
  • To be able to deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
  • Support the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being.
  • Maintain a safe environment for the young people.
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals that may be involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.

Requirements of a senior children's support worker:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker, or with Young People is ESSENTIAL
  • You MUST have a Full UK Driving Licence as you may transport the young people from time to time.
  • You must be over the age of 21.
  • NVQ or QCF level 3 in Children & Young People is ESSENTIAL
  • You must be able to commute to Corse Lawn, Gloucestershire.
