About the School

A welcoming and inclusive secondary SEN school in Greenwich is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant. You will join a specialist team supporting students aged 11-19 with complex learning needs (including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD). This is a rewarding role for those passionate about making a real difference in children's lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group support for students with complex learning, medical and communication needs

  • Assist with personal care tasks (toileting, feeding, mobility support, hoisting)

  • Facilitate learning through life-skills development, sensory activities, reading and writing support

  • Supervise students in classrooms, playgrounds, and on school outings

  • Build meaningful, trusting relationships, promoting independence and emotional wellbeing

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to follow individual support plans

  • Use communication tools (PECS, Makaton, AAC) where appropriate

  • Maintain safe practice and confidentiality standards at all times

Candidate Profile
  • Prior experience working with children or young adults with SEN, complex needs, or physical disabilities (school or care settings)

  • Comfortable supporting personal and physical care requirements

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with strong behaviour management skills

  • Strong communication abilities and team-oriented mindset

  • Able to maintain high professional standards, confidentiality, and safeguarding

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Relevant training in manual handling, hoisting, or similar is highly desirable (or willingness to train)
