There is a requirement to attend the office as needed.

Role Overview Finance Head

As a key member of the senior finance team within the Financial Reporting division, the Finance Head of Property Services will lead the maintenance finance team, ensuring effective financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning for a high-expenditure maintenance division (circa £155m).

This role offers an opportunity to work closely with senior operational leaders, translating financial data into strategic insight. You will also take the lead in integrating financial systems from new acquisitions, improving processes, and ensuring compliance with group financial policies.

Key Responsibilities Finance Head
  • Lead and manage a team of 2 Senior Management Accountants and 5 Assistant Management Accountants.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for the maintenance division.
  • Develop and deliver annual budgets, reforecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Partner with operational directors and budget holders to provide insightful management information.
  • Present monthly management accounts with commentary to senior directors.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts in collaboration with the financial accounting team.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and lead change initiatives to improve financial systems and reporting.
  • Drive team development, succession planning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assist with group cash flow forecasting and contribute to wider finance team strategy.
  • Actively engage in cross-departmental initiatives and contribute to best practice sharing across divisions.
Experience and Qualifications Finance Head

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant and member of a recognised CCAB accounting body.
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in finance roles.
  • Proven leadership and staff management experience across finance teams.
  • Significant experience in management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering.
  • Comfortable working with operational directors and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong IT skills including expert-level Excel.
  • Clear communicator with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, pragmatic approach.
  • Able to manage workload under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in social housing or commercial maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics F&O and Adaptive Insights.
  • Exposure to Corporation Tax and VAT.
  • Understanding of the housing sector.
