Project Controller


JOB TYPE: Contract

SALARY: £15.60 - £24.57/hour

MPI have a requirement for a Project Controller to work on site in Deeside, Flintshire.

Scope of Work - Job Description
Working with the SSSL Programme Controller (PC), the successful candidate will develop and maintain a MS Project Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) that the PC and project team members can use to manage workflow across all aspects of project delivery. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to manage a range of coordination and control management activities across the programme.
During planning phases this will include:
Defining an appropriate WBS in line with the adopted project development and project delivery strategy
Monitor and control the project through the various phases of the project lifecycle
Manage the interface between the various work packages
Maximise efficiency of the project strategy with respect to cost, time and contingency
Risk and opportunity management
During the execution stage:
• Update the schedule and compare the actual work performed against the baseline programme
• Identify and report variances
• Identify activities impacting the schedule's critical path and facilitate the identification of rectification measures
• Reporting on project trends, forecasts, contingency, and schedule risks and opportunities
• Monitor and manage resource allocation within the schedule
Specific Tasks:
• Establish and manage the Project Schedule ensuring integration of all work package plans (OEM DMAPs) into the IMS
• Support the respective Line of Development (LOD) owners, updating their plans on a weekly basis to reflect work package progress
• Produce, Distribute and Report Project Schedule Data where required, advising on any conflicts and corrective actions necessary to maintain the baseline plan
• Ensure compliance with the organisation's project control standards, systems and methods delivering accurate and quality project performance status data in a timely manner
• Coordinate and regulate various meetings such as project progress review meetings, quality reviews etc.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning schedule priorities
• Assist with the coordination of tasks and activities within the project work-streams
• Assist the Programme Controller with the review of the Project Lifecycle Management process, coordinating modifications and assisting with implementation of revised processes
• Compile project status reports, coordinate project schedules, attend project review meetings where required, identifying and resolving scheduling problems with Line Of Development owners
Qualification Skills
Prospective candidates for the Project Controller role should be able to demonstrate reasonable evidence of the following levels of experience and attributes:
1. Scheduling experience gained from utilizing MS Project schedules and plans, serving multiple projects.
2. Experience of managing Work Packages and integrating effort completed (in terms of time and cost) into schedule progress.
3. Experience of developing and monitoring project plans, using WBS and Work Package management techniques.
4. Broad experience of the MS Office suite of software to the following levels:
• MS Project - Expert/Intermediate - This is essential to have
• MS Excel, MS Word MS PowerPoint - Intermediate/Basic
A Project Management type qualification such as Prince 2 and/or PMP would be viewed favourably, but is not deemed as being essential for the role.

Sealand Support Services Limited (SSSL) is a Joint Venture between the UK MoD, BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman, and is intended to provide Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul and Upgrade (MROU) services in support of the new F35 (Lightning II) stealth fighter jet.
SSSL operates out of the Defence Electronics and Components Agency (DECA), which is based at the former RAF Sealand site in North Wales. DECA's facility is a world leader in the provision of avionic and aerospace test and repair capability, and recruits widely within the NW of England and northern Wales.
