PE Global is currently recruiting for a Metallurgical/Materials Engineer for a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment client based in Peterborough.

This is an initial 12 months contract position working on site 5 days a week.

Paying £19.29ph PAYE or £26.18ph Umbrella.

Duties of the role/Responsibilities
• Resolving issues regarding the design or manufacturing. Ensuring design acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
• Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
• Planning and improving testing procedures and operations to make the test more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective.
• Monitoring results, machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.

Education/Experience
• Materials Science/Metallurgy degree and/or substantive practical working experience within a materials laboratory environment is required
• 3-5 years work experience
• Metallurgical / materials evaluation of new products, processes and or systems
• Engaging communicator; Able to convey technical assessments and results to both technical and non-technical colleagues
• Providing technical guidance on product and process maintenance
• Ability to Identify metallurgical / materials manufacturing defects and make process improvement recommendations
