Senior Manager Electrical Engineering

Location: Bristol or Birmingham (hybrid)

A leading engineering consultancy is growing its Electrical & ICA capability within the water sector and is looking for an experienced electrical engineering leader to take ownership of complex, multi-disciplinary design delivery. This is an opportunity to shape critical UK infrastructure programmes, support key water utility clients, and mentor a high-performing technical team.

The role
You'll lead electrical engineering delivery across high-value projects, ensuring quality, programme and budget alignment, and strong client collaboration. Typical deliverables include single-line diagrams, cable block diagrams, load schedules, MCC specifications, control philosophies, and control/network architecture.

Key responsibilities

Lead and coordinate a team of Electrical and ICA engineers delivering design on complex multi-disciplinary projects
Plan and manage team workload, programme and budgets to hit project milestones
Produce and/or technically assure electrical design deliverables (including checking/reviewing others' work)
Provide technical input and problem-solving leadership across design stages and into construction/client-side support where required
Mentor and develop junior engineers and contribute to capability growth within the wider electrical network
Support bids/proposals and contribute to sector growth initiativesWhat we're looking for

Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
Chartered Engineer status
Proven experience leading electrical design delivery teams within a consultancy and multi-disciplinary environment
Strong practical electrical design experience in industrial/process environments (water sector experience is beneficial but not essential)
Working knowledge of relevant standards and practices such as WIMES, HAZOP awareness, DSEAR/ATEX, lightning risk, earthing/bonding and lighting design
Confident using electrical design/analysis tools (e.g., Trimble/Amtech or similar)
Clear communicator, able to work independently and guide others with sound judgement
