Astute's Nuclear team is partnering with a leading nuclear sector contractor to recruit an Industrial Relations Manager for a major nuclear decommissioning project in Seascale. You will play a critical role in managing industrial relations, supporting workforce engagement, and ensuring smooth operations across highly regulated and technically challenging projects.

Responsibilities and duties of the Industrial Relations Manager role.

Reporting to the Project Director you will:

Develop and maintain strong relationships with unions, employee representatives, and key stakeholders
Lead the management of industrial relations matters, including negotiations, grievance handling, and dispute resolution
Advise project and operational teams on workforce policies, legislation, and best practice
Support workforce engagement strategies to foster a positive and collaborative culture
Monitor compliance with employment law, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
Provide guidance on workforce planning, contract negotiations, and collective bargaining agreements
Investigate and resolve workforce-related issues promptly and effectively
Collaborate with project teams to anticipate industrial relations risks and implement proactive solutions
Prepare reports, briefings, and recommendations for senior management
This role is working on-site in Seascale and will require a flexible working attitude.

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Proven experience in industrial relations within construction, engineering, or nuclear sectors
Strong knowledge of employment law, labour relations, and union engagement
Experience handling complex industrial disputes and negotiations
Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in HR or industrial relations
