The eCommunications Team manages ICAEW's email strategy for external communications and marketing. We ensure every message is clear, consistent, on-brand, and professionally executed.
We are responsible for managing the ESP and working with teams to deliver impactful and effective email and SMS communications.
Overall purpose of this role of Email Marketing Manager.
To manage the strategy and drive the development of ICAEW's email communications and advance the use of personalisation and automation.
Email Marketing Manager Responsibilities include:
Under the direction of the Head of Digital Insight and Communications, this role contributes to ICAEW's digital strategy by:
- Leading the development and continuous improvement of ICAEW's email and SMS communication strategies, including best practices, automation, segmentation, and personalisation, to ensure effective and innovative engagement with key audiences.
- Managing and contributing to a wide range of strategic digital projects, aligning internal department needs with member and student requirements, while working closely with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
- Overseeing the design, implementation and optimisation of email programmes, regularly monitoring performance, sharing insights, and championing data-driven improvements across the business.
- Driving internal awareness and adoption of digital communications, including raising the profile of key initiatives such as triggered emails and automated journeys where possible, and supporting teams in reducing manual processes through smart use of technology.
- Staying ahead of digital marketing trends and best practices, actively researching emerging technologies and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Leading and developing a high-performing team of four, providing direct line management to two roles and mentoring while fostering strong collaboration with the wider digital team to ensure alignment across ICAEW's digital activities.

Email Marketing Manager Candidate Profile
- Educated to degree level with recent experience of working in a digital environment.
- Experience in a busy, marketing-led communications environment.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of email communications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including copywriting/editorial ability.
- Team player, strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, and sound influencing skills.
Experience in managing own and teams/direct reports workload with effective prioritization of tasks
