About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Business Development Executive to join our client’s Commercial team near Heathrow. This opportunity is also open to individuals with a Freight Operations background who are keen to transfer their skills into Sales and Business Development.
Reporting to the National Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in sourcing, developing, and securing business from both retained and new clients.
This is a varied role combining sales development, customer relationship management, and commercial support. You’ll be involved in building long-term partnerships, generating quotations, managing house accounts, and supporting trade lane development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and strengthen relationships with house accounts and new business clients.
- Handle import and export opportunities across Air, Sea, and Road freight.
- Provide accurate quotations, rate cards, and follow-ups in collaboration with the Commercial team.
- Negotiate with customers to secure competitive and profitable solutions.
- Support the onboarding of new clients, ensuring smooth set-up within internal systems.
- Maintain accurate records of meetings, calls, and opportunities within CargoWise (CW1).
- Monitor pipeline, report on sales activity, and support achievement of sales targets.
- Assist with trade lane development by analysing data and supporting overseas partners.
- Ensure all sales transactions comply with legal and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR).
Requirements
- Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a commercial/sales role.
- Candidates with an Operations background in freight forwarding who are keen to move into Sales will be strongly considered.
- Strong understanding of Air, Sea, and Road freight services (Import & Export).
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with confidence to liaise at all levels.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Familiarity with CargoWise (CW1) or similar freight software is highly desirable.
- Commercially astute with the ability to evaluate opportunities and maintain profitability.
