Texas A&M University at Galveston, Department of Marine Engineering Technology

The Department of Marine Engineering Technology (MARE) at Texas A&M University at Galveston is seeking part time Lecturers to teach one or more of the following courses: statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, modern marine engineering, offshore technology, senior design, and related labs. These are a non-tenure acquiring positions and will start in the fall semester of 2019. Applicants should have exceptional communication and demonstrated engineering skills. The following elements will be considered an advantage: Possessing a substantial background in the Marine Engineering field and experience in the maritime industry.

A minimum requirement is to hold a master's degree in mechanical engineering or marine engineering, or a related field. These employees would have a professional reason to be in a lab utilizing hazardous materials or equipment. The Lecturers will report directly to the department head.

The goal of the Marine Engineering Technology program is to produce graduates that become successful in the marine engineering sector of industries related to design, operations, management, and a hands on technical competence in engineering systems and the practical application of those systems. The program provides two scholastic avenues for students, a License Option and a Non License Option. The License Option is intended for cadets who can then sit for the U.S. Coast Guard license examination, enabling them to serve as an engineering officer aboard sea going vessels. A branch campus of Texas A&M University (in College Station), the Galveston campus functions much like a school or college within the larger university, to deliver ocean-oriented education, research, and public service in a variety of marine/maritime programs. It houses the only state maritime training academy located on the Gulf of Mexico. Instructional programs are delivered primarily on a 130-acre campus on Pelican Island, near the mouth of Galveston Bay. Texas A&M University at Galveston employs approximately 115 full-time Faculty members (~55 as tenure or tenure/-track) and an undergraduate enrollment of about 2,300 students and ~200 graduate students.
