Staff Accountant opening

Responsibilities:

Primary duties include supporting the administration of financial and compliance aspects of grants; ensures effective financial and functional accounting controls are in place; maintains adequate financial records and supporting documentation. Preparation of documents for grant monitoring to include budget to actual, financial performance reports and invoices on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis as needed. Collaboration with grant and other firm staff on grant applications, planning and budgeting. Preparation of semi-monthly payroll to include payroll tax payments, garnishment payments, employee ancillary benefit & 403(b) payments and reconciliation of timekeeping, attendance/absences, FMLA. Preparation and reconciliation of quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting to include 941, 940, state unemployment, W2s. Preparation of schedules for 5500. Preparation of timely and accurate financial and management reports as directed. Ability to perform duties and attend meetings and/or other functions throughout 12 county service area necessary, with valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, proof of insurance required.

Qualifications:

BA/BS in accounting, business administration or related field. Minimum three to five years of progressive work experience with all elements of in-house accounting. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Successful candidate will have high proficiency in accounting software, and databases. Working knowledge of GAAP in a nonprofit setting is preferred. Performs well in a high demand setting with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a time and content sensitive manner.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills, along with superior and consistent attention to detail with highly polished communication and writing skills, computer proficiency (Microsoft Office 365). Ability to perform duties and attend meetings and/or other functions throughout 12 county service area necessary, with valid Florida automobile license, use of own auto, proof of insurance required.
