Our client, a leading player in zero-emission vehicle, is seeking a Senior Product Engineer - Composite Specialist to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is crucial in enhancing the company's expertise in composite technologies, engineering solutions, and production processes to address current and future challenges. You will need to possess significant knowledge of composite manufacturing processes and the ability to employ best industry practices to produce lightweight, durable, and efficient composite components and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

Improving composite material selection and process development
Leading New Product Introduction (NPI) programs
Designing composite moulds and approving parts
Delivering tangible business improvements
Problem-solving in a manufacturing environment
Driving process mapping and continuous improvement techniques
Training and developing staff
Managing ERP & MBOM and routing generation

Job Requirements:

HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
Relevant experience in composite manufacturing, preferably in Motorsport, Automotive, or Aerospace industries
Experience in GRP design and production methods
Understanding of manufacturing improvement programs and problem-solving techniques on a production line
Proficiency in 3D modelling

Key Tasks:

New Product Introduction (NPI):

Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business
Supporting Research and Development into new production methods and materials
Coordinating new GRP design concepts through to full production
Ensuring the composite facility has adequate tooling to support NPI
Producing build drawings and workshop procedures
Maintaining high standards of personal accountability

Manufacturing Capabilities:

Ensuring all manufacturing processes are safe and meet required quality standards
Responsible for GRP design for manufacture and evaluation of mould designs
Specifying processes, methods, equipment, and tooling to improve safety, quality, and cost
Creating standard work instructions for composite components and assemblies
Identifying and specifying tooling requirements and approving them for production use
Ensuring product process maps are optimal and up to date
Assisting with labour and material allocation via estimates or time study activities
Interpreting engineering drawings and updating MBOMs with appropriate routings
Generating and analysing production data to make data-driven decisions
