Freight Forwarder - Operations and Development Executive

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and confident Freight Forwarder with a minimum of 4 years’ hands-on industry experience. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge across Sea, Air, and Road freight (Road preferred but not essential), handling both import and export operations. This is a customer-facing role that requires excellent communication skills, a professional phone manner, and confidence in cold calling when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end import and export operations across Sea, Air, and Road freight.
• Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure smooth movement of goods.
• Prepare and process all documentation
• Provide accurate quotes and manage shipments from origin to destination.
• Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining regular communication and updates.
• Handle client enquiries, negotiate rates, and build strong business relationships.
• Perform cold calling to engage new customers and support business growth.
• Resolve shipment issues promptly and professionally.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure all compliance standards are met.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years’ Freight Forwarding experience.
• Experience across Sea & Air freight essential; Road freight beneficial but not required.
• Strong understanding of the full UK freight forwarding process.
• Confident communicator with excellent phone manner and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with customers and suppliers.
• Comfortable with cold calling and relationship building.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to multitask under pressure.
• Knowledge of customs procedures and relevant systems (e.g., CDS, port systems) is an advantage.
