Reed Finance are delighted to be supporting one of our established clients, an SME which has had further growth over the last 12 months. They are now looking to recruit for a newly created role, a Finance & Operations Manager who will take full ownership of the company’s financial function. This is a key appointment for a growing organisation seeking strong financial leadership, improved reporting, and clearer strategic insight as they continue their growth journey.
The successful candidate will be highly experienced in a senior finance role, ideally with oversight of HR and administrative processes to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
The Role
As Finance & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for delivering accurate financial control, robust reporting, and commercially focused advice to the company’s Directors. You will shape the budgeting and forecasting processes, strengthen financial systems, and provide clear, actionable insight to support strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Finance (Primary Focus)
- Lead the full finance function, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong internal controls.
- Produce monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cashflow and variance reporting.
- Drive budgeting and forecasting, presenting clear financial models to Directors.
- Provide meaningful financial analysis and commentary to support growth planning.
- Manage cashflow and monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
- Oversee transactional finance team with admin support.
- Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks.
- Act as the key point of contact for external accountants, auditors and financial partners.
Strategic Support
- Provide Directors with concise, insightful financial advice.
- Support scenario modelling, long term planning and investment decisions.
Light Oversight of HR & Administration
- Ensure HR/admin activity remains compliant and aligned with company policy.
- Offer guidance on recruitment, onboarding and documentation when needed.
- Support the admin team with prioritisation and continuous improvement at a strategic level.
About You
- Proven experience in an SME finance role, ideally as Finance Manager or similar.
- Strong competency in producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
- Commercially minded, analytical and confident presenting recommendations.
- Basic awareness of HR processes (desirable, not essential).
- Organised, proactive and capable of operating as a trusted advisor within a small leadership team.
