Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our amazing Secondary Schools and make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. This schools is based in Effingham and is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in their learning and wellbeing, helping them thrive in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
- Helping to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Providing tailored support to pupils, including those with additional care needs.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping manage any behavioural challenges calmly and effectively.
- Promoting pupils’ personal development, independence, and confidence.
- Assisting with lesson preparation and resource organisation.
- Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support each child’s progress.
- Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, following safeguarding and child protection policies.
What we’re looking for:
- Ideally working towards a Level 2 qualification in support work in schools (or equivalent).
- Experience working with children with SEN.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Confidence in managing a range of behaviours, including challenging situations.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- A team player who’s also confident working independently.
- Flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused.
