We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our amazing Secondary Schools and make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. This schools is based in Effingham and is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in their learning and wellbeing, helping them thrive in a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
  • Helping to create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
  • Providing tailored support to pupils, including those with additional care needs.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and helping manage any behavioural challenges calmly and effectively.
  • Promoting pupils’ personal development, independence, and confidence.
  • Assisting with lesson preparation and resource organisation.
  • Working closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support each child’s progress.
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, following safeguarding and child protection policies.

What we’re looking for:

  • Ideally working towards a Level 2 qualification in support work in schools (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children with SEN.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Confidence in managing a range of behaviours, including challenging situations.
  • Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
  • A team player who’s also confident working independently.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and solution-focused.
